RUGBY NEWS - The Middelburg Eagles' first division team (Northern Region) were announced the champions of the Karoo Sub Union Regional League after they beat the Steytlerville Barbarians' first division team (Southern Region) with 30 - 17 at the finals in Aberdeen on Saturday 16 September.
Despite their defeat against the Eagles, the Barbarians have done the Dr Beyers Naudé municipality proud by remaining at the top of the log for the entire duration of the tournament.
They went into the semi-finals with a total of 35 log points and secured their spot in the finals with a 28 - 12 win over Middelburg Excelsior on 9 September.
The Eagles went into the semi-finals on 9 September with a total of 32 log points and secured their spot in the finals by defeating Steytlerville United with 24 - 10.
