SPORT NEWS - The Graaff-Reinet Squash Club hosted its annual Karoo Squash doubles tournament on 23 and 24 September.
The weekend started on Friday with a dinner at Profcon.
The following day, twelve teams commenced play at 09:00. "The tournament used to be held in conjunction with the Karoo-Lus Town Festival, but took a hiatus for a few years, mainly due to Covid," said club chairperson Kelvin Westraat. "In response to popular demand and numerous inquiries, we decided to revive the tournament, and it turned out to be a great success."
The local champions of the tournament were the father-son duo Tonie and Dawid Botha.
"The club would like to extend its gratitude to Nommerpas for sponsoring most of the tournament prizes, as well as Botanics Sport Club for creating an amazing atmosphere and providing braai packs.
"We have already received inquiries about the 2024 edition of the tournament, which is likely to be hosted once again in September next year," Westraat added.
The results were as follows:
- 12th - Ian Paterson and Louise Bekker
