KAROO SPORTS NEWS - Parkrun: Last week Saturday’s Mountain Drive parkrun in Graaff-Reinet saw 94 participants, of whom six were first-timers and 17 recorded new personal bests.
An unregistered runner was first, while Corniel Vorster came second with 24:24. Junior runner Robernito Joubert, who falls in the u.10 category, came third with 25:08. It was Joubert’s first time at the parkrun.
Zoe Hobson, also an u.10 runner, was first in the woman’s category with 29:03. This is a new record for Hobson. Hildegard Wessels was second with 32:57, and Chantel Smit third with 35:00.
Golf
Weppie Wepener (42 points) came out tops at the Graaff-Reinet Hi-Q & Midbord sponsored golf day on Saturday 12 October.
Collen Warner (38 points) was second, and André Olivier (36 points) third. On a 34 point count-out. Yvonne Drummond, Noël Tailor Freeme and Rowen George, took the fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively.
The Wednesday 8 October Gold Rush golf day saw André Marais (38 points), walk away as the winner. Betts Henning (33 points) was second, with Jacque Wagener (32 points) third.
