SPORT NEWS - The Schoombee Country Club had its annual Winter Classic Bowls Tournament from 16 to 18 June.
Between the cold and windy weather, they welcomed 14 teams with true karoo hospitality.
"Teams travelled from George, Gqeberha (PE), Grahamstown, Hanover, Aliwal North, Steynsburg, Hofmeyr, Middelburg, Graaff Reinet, and Schoombee who had two teams which included ten rookie players and three seasoned players," reports Murray Lord, chairman of Schoombee Country Club.
The team of Gerald Fletcher, from Hofmeyr, won the tournament, with a final score of 8 - 30.
