GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - "My mission is to get children active. I want to see children touch, play and feel," said the general manager of sport and recreation at the Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Deidre Sedras, when she handed sport equipment to five schools at Spandau Secondary in Graaff-Reinet.
Spandau and Asherville Secondary, Nqweba Secondary, Hoër Volkskool and Union High received rugby, netball, cricket and hockey equipment to the value of R450 000.
Robert Hector, the newly elected sport council chairperson of the Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality, welcomed the equipment saying it will help bridge the two year gap in sporting activities caused by Covid-19.

He asked the schools to make full use of all the equipment.
Apart from representatives from the schools the handover was also attended by the sport and recreation manager, Sharif Gamiet, and the district director of education, Nkosinathi Godlo.
