KAROO NEWS - The EP Fours Final for men and women was played on the greens of the Graaff-Reinet Bowling Club on 29 and 30 July.
With eight sides playing in two sections in both the men and women competitions, quality bowls was on display for spectators to enjoy.
After three round-robin games the results were as follows:
Ladies' section:
- Section 1: The Woods Bowling Club from Gqeberha, Dezi Rosenblatt, Des Vermaak, Lanell Cherry and Monique Sterley, were unbeaten on six game points and +40 shots.
- Section 2: The Jeffrey's Bay team, Petro Toerien, Hilary Bannister, Jane Scheepers and Riana Caine on 4 +18, edged out the Midlands side by two shots to qualify for the final.
- In the final the Woods combination came out guns blazing and after 19 ends, with the score on 26 - 11, the Toerien side conceded the game.
Bronze went to the runners-up in each section, Albany and Midlands.
Men's section:
- Section 1: Keith Wakelin, Rocco Scheepers, Phil Weddell and Johan Vermeulen from Jeffrey's Bay Bowling Club won their round-robin games to head the section on six game points and +26.
- Section 2: The Westview Bowling Club's foursome of Paul Spriggs, Glenn Corson, Grant Harman and Reece Stone headed their section on 6 +35, to qualify for the final.
After 20 ends the Westview team was leading 21 - 12 to claim the title.
Kowie Bowling Club and Midlands Bowls claimed the bronze medals.

The bowling fraternity can lick their lips for the Venison Classic that will take place on the greens of the Middelburg Bowling Club on 19 and 20 August.
