GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — The idiom “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” holds true even for the young learners.
Sports, whether team-based or individual, are great for children as they provide not just physical activity, but also help build children’s self-esteem, confidence, social skills and motivate them to excel in life.
This year's inter-schools clash between Union and Volkskool once again saw the pre-schoolers associated with these two schools participating.
During the fun-filled morning, the children accompanied by their parents participated in rugby and hockey matches on the Union sports grounds.
The competition started with hockey at the Union Astro, where combined Weppie Preppie and Union Pre-school teams - the Cupcakes and the Candyfloss teams - had fun contesting one another while their parents watched on eagerly.
Shortly afterwards, the rugby boys made up of the Batman and Spiderman teams - entertained the spectators with their skill on the rugby field. Some stellar play by several boys got the crowd cheering wholeheartedly.
It was exhilarating for all the parents to look at their little ones enthusiastically giving it their all during their first inter-schools matches ever.
