GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Open Day Pairs competition sponsored by Personal Trust on Saturday 15 July, attracted 36 players, with quite a few participants from other towns.
Four 14-end games were played and after three rounds only three teams remained unbeaten.
The top four sides were: Rikus and Jacques Theron with six game points and +16 shots; Alida Zwiegers and Francois 'Oosie' Oosthuizen on 6 +7; Keith Woods and Yvonne McLaggan on 6 +2 and Robert Scott and Riana du Toit on 4 +15.
When the dust had settled after the fourth round, Zwiegers and Oosthuizen had the better of the Theron brothers from Murraysburg and claimed the main cash prize with an aggregate of eight game points and +17 shots.
Scott and Du Toit finished second on 6 +19, while Tinnie Prinsloo and Pam Neuweiler on 6 +8, snatched third place from the Theron brothers by two shots.
The Wooden Spoon went to Stefan and Andrea Ittershagen-Strauss.
Hanover Classic
A composite team, comprising of Jako Meyer (lead), Walton Koetaan second, Johan Matthyse third and Arthur Langley (skip) joined 13 other sides to take part in the Hanover Classic played on 15 and 16 July.
The Langley combination finished fourth after five rounds of bowls, bringing eight springboks home.

- Midland Fours
The popular Midland Fours for men and women will take place on 22 and 23 July on the greens of the Graaff-Reinet Bowling Club.
- EP Fours Finals
The finals of the EP Fours will be played on 29 and 30 July at a venue still to be decided.
