GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - More than fifty runners braved the hill in chilly conditions during Saturday's weekly parkrun.
The Mountain Drive parkrun was enjoyed by runners from Cape Town, Johannesburg, Adelaide and a group from Scotland doing voluntary work in town.
Since the Mountain Drive parkrun's inception, volunteers from Lathallan School Brotherton Castle in Scotland have participated in the parkrun during their annual visit to Vuyani, the well-known local children's home.
Last Saturday, they honoured the late South African president, Nelson Mandela's call to action to support charities through volunteering or donating. Lathallan School exemplifies the spirit of giving with their annual volunteer work each July.
The parkrun is a free event aimed at health and fitness and takes place every Saturday morning at 08:00.
Carolyn Proudfoot from Johannesburg and Teresa Cooper from Cape Town enjoyed the scenic route.
