GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Over the weekend of 16 and 17 February, the Midlands Mixed Pairs competition was held on the greens of the Middelburg Bowling Club.
In an almost family affair, the semi-finals was contested by married couples, Neil and Laurraine Miller, Chris and Alet Slabbert and Erica and Abri Joubert, with Johan van Onselen and Loraine van den Berg taking the last spot.
The Joubert combination qualified for the finals in a closely contested game against the Slabberts - winning by a single shot.
In the other semi-final, the Van den Berg/Onselen duo trounced the Miller couple.
The final was an all Middelburg affair, with Johan van Onselen (lead) and Loraine van den Berg (skip) lifting the title by 23 shots to 14.
