KAROO NEWS - The Central Easter Sport Festival at the Kollie Koeberg stadium kicked off at 09:00 on Saturday 20 April with the Future Kings and Veterans Coaching Clinic.
Over 170 primary school rugby players of all ages participated.
After the coaching clinic there were rugby games for u.9's, u.11's and u.13's. The u.13's played for the Veterans Rugby Trophy. Narsingstraat Primary beat Ryneveld Primary in the final by 17 points to 9 to win the floating trophy. The coaches also selected two u.13 players of the day and awarded them a new rugby kit each.
The organisers would like to thank all the primary schools and team coaches who participated in the morning part of the Saturday coaching clinic and school rugby, as well of course as the Future Kings who travelled from Port Elizabeth to Graaff Reinet to present the clinic.
The senior rugby kicked off at 14:00, together with the netball.
EMC beat Central second team 22-11. The highlight of the day was the game between Central Veterans and Evergreens Veterans from Cradock who did not disappoint the crowd, playing a match with a great deal of excitement and entertainment.
Central Vets won the game 14-0. Unfortunately The Southern Knights from Johannesburg could not attend and had to cancel their game against Central first team due to unforeseen circumstances. Central played against an Invitation Fifteen and won the game 15-12.

The atmosphere was electric. The generous support of all the sponsors was also greatly appreciated. Already the organisers are looking forward to next Easter and thinking how to make the event even bigger and better.
Next year they very much hope that all the primary schools in Graaff- Reinet will take part in the coaching clinic and games - only one school did not participate this year. After the school games the boys were given refreshments sponsored by Spar and Pick 'n Pay.
A final thank you from the organisers to all who sponsored the event: Montego, Spar, Pick ‘n Pay, Nathan Jacobs, Neil Jansen, Momentum, and Hollywood Bets.
