GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Novice and Senior Singles championships were contested on the greens of the Graaff-Reinet Bowling Club on 17 and 18 August.
Riana du Toit remained unbeaten to claim the Ladies Singles title with 8 + 28.
Elna de Klerk was second with 4 + 11 and lost two games by one and two shots respectively.
"I didn't think I was going to win," Du Toit told the Advertiser.
As a food matron at Laer Volkskool's hostel Huis Eybers, she has little time to practice bowling.
"I play on Saturdays. I love the sport because it's competitive, but you can also play on your own. It's very relaxing."
Du Toit started bowling in Murraysburg years ago because her late husband Benna enjoyed the sport.
"Youngsters will also enjoy it," Du Toit concluded. "It's good exercise and lots of fun."
Priscilla West won the Ladies Novice competition, with her unbeaten four game points and plus 34 shots.
The runner-up was Charlotte van der Merwe on 2 - 5.
The Men Novice title went to Thinus Ferriera, who won all his games and finished on a 6 + 23.
Second place went to Pierre Harmse on 2 - 3.
Chris Slabbert won the Senior Men Singles title with 6 + 31, having only lost one game to Eddie Brett-Rite.
The runner-up was Dennis Rosslee on 6 + 16.
