SPORT NEWS - Swimmers of the Destiny Swimming School in Graaff-Reinet competed in the second A League Gala at Newton Park Swimming Pool, in Gqeberha on 26 August.
The results are as follows:
- Catie Davenport received two podium places for the girls u.10 - in the 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke. She ended in the top eight in every other event se participated in.
- Adriaan Pieterse achieved three podium places, for boys u.10 - two first places and one third place, and in all his other events he ended in the top five. He won the 100m and 200m backstroke, and he is very close to qualifying for SA National level three.
- Daniel Davenport received three podium places, in the category boys u.10. He won the 200m freestyle, achieved second place in the 200m individual medley and third place for the 100m breaststroke, in all his other events he ended in the top five.
- Mateo Schoeman concluded his competition with five podium wins, for the 50m, 100m, 200m breaststroke and a 200m individual medley. He came second in the 50m butterfly and he has already qualified for SA National level.
- Nina Pieterse received four medals and qualified for SA National level three in the 400m freestyle. Two second places in 200m, 400m freestyle, two third places in 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley. She ended in the top five of every event she competed in.
- Chris De Wet accomplished three podium places, two third places in the 50m, 100m breaststroke and a second place for the 200m breaststroke. In all the other events he was under the top five.
- Ben Lemke took five podium places, he won the 200m breaststroke, and three second places in the 50m butterfly, 100m breaststroke and 50m freestyle. He ended in the third place in the 200m individual medley and in all his other events he ended in the top five.
The swimmers will be competing in the third A League Gala during September, at Newton Park Swimming Pool, in Gqeberha.
