GRAAFF-REINET BOWLS NEWS - Graaff-Reinet Bowling Club hosted the annual business league competition on 27 October. The competition will run every Thursday until 24 November.
The Graaff-Reinet Business League Bowls started with a few players and grew to 36 teams this year.
Apart from great fun for those taking part, the club also benefited and gained approximately five new members.
"The new members are playing good bowls now because they use the league as practice for other tournaments," said Niel Colyn (club vice-president)
Colyn told Graaff-Reinet Advertiser that the business league was started to polish the image of bowls in the Graaff-Reinet community and to take away the perception that bowls is an "old man's" game.
Colyn encouraged players of all ages to join and compete in the business league.
Furthermore, Colyn conveyed his thanks to the members of Graaff-Reinet Bowling Club who are assisting the different teams, providing bowling tips, teaching young bowlers the game and doing the scorecards and assisting with the catering.
The Business league bowls is all about measurements and positioning.
