GRAAFF-REINET BOWLS NEWS - Thirty-four determined bowling teams gathered on the greens of the Graaff-Reinet Bowling Club from Friday 25 October to Sunday 27 October, to participate in the popular Gem of the Karoo Classic.
In the 23rd rendition of this event, three 15-end games were played on the Friday to determine the 16 sides that would vie for the winning cheque sponsored by Tops@Spar.
After another three 21-end games, the winnings went to the combination of Sean Brito, Andrew Long, Terry Cawood and Carl Vermeulen.
After the three 15-end games, 18 of the 34 sides that entered in the Gem of the Karoo Classic also took part in the Personal Trust Plate Competition.

The teams competed in a further three 21-end games, while watching the Springboks qualify for the Rugby World Cup final. Ultimately, the combination of Piet Subke, Roddy Andrea, Andre Naude and Andre van der Walt took the trophy home.
All bowlers were focused on one goal: Winning the Gem of the Karoo Classic.
