GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Eastern Province Badminton Association hosted a 'Shuttle Time’ clinic at the Botanical Sports Club in Graaff-Reinet last Saturday, 19 June.

'Shuttle Time' is the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Schools’ Badminton Programme that aims to support the teaching of enjoyable, safe and inclusive badminton activities to children.

Several learners from Union Preparatory School and Laer Volkskool attended the event.

Ruben Snyman, EP Badminton Association’s Provincial Head Coach, presented the clinic in cooperation with the Botanical Badminton Club. He was assisted by Andries Burger of the Botanical Badminton Club.

Burger told Graaff-Reinet Advertiser the clinic served as a fun introduction to badminton and focused on teaching basic badminton skills by using a number of fun games and drills that encourages participation in badminton and daily physical activity.

Those who attended were taught the basic rules, grips, correct footwork, serves, net shots, overhead clears and drops.
