KAROO NEWS - The Golf Mk1 of Heinrich Hagen, with its well-known Monster colour scheme, has grown up and is now sporting the Mass Hire colours.
Hagen is currently racing in the Eastern Province Regional Championships for modified saloons at the Aldo Scribante racetrack in Port Elizabeth. He excelled at Scribante on a soaking wet track last weekend and came away with a second place in his class. He also took part in the endurance race where he finished third overall and won his class.
The Monster Golfie started off in the Dub Limited Club here in George and become known while participating in various gymkhanas. The big step up to a full racetrack was in 2014.
This year has been very successful so far. Hagen is currently third overall in the championships, although being only a class E car. "It has been an exciting year so far. We are leading our class. Motorsport is, however, very expensive.
"We have been fortunate to get a lot of support. I am grateful for help and sponsorships from Exousia Refrigerated Transport Services, Geartech as well as from Coastal Spares in Port Alfred. Mass Hire Port Elizabeth helps our crew with accommodation in PE during race weekends."
Hagen said everyone can follow his progress on his Facebook: heinrichhagen.
