GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Graaff-Reinet Golf course was filled with many young golfers over the weekend, who played in the Better-Ball competition on Saturday and the EP Junior Event on Sunday.
In the Better-Ball competition, Jean-Louis du Plessis partnered with his little sister, Marlie, to win the competition with 54 points.
Eddie Nel and his daughter, Mia, were second with 52 points and third was Bernie Weyer and John Westcott with 47 points. Two-clubs were played by Wilfred Cawood and Eddie Nel. After the prize-giving, a braai was enjoyed on the deck under the stars.
On Sunday, 44 juniors from across the Eastern Cape competed in the EP Order of Merit event. The local lads played well, with Jean-Louis du Plessis winning the u. 17 age-group with 71 gross (one under par) and Johndre Ludick won the u. 15 age-group with 80 gross.
The Gold Rush sponsored IPS competition on Wednesday was won by Wally Gentry on 32 points, followed by Jacques Wagener, who beat Vlam Pretorius on a count-out, both on 31 points.
Bookings for the Proudfoot Tournament, which will be played from 19 to 21 March, have filled up quickly. There are only a few slots left for the afternoon fields, but there is still space in the mornings. Golfers are encouraged to enter their names to avoid disappointment.
An IPS competition will be held on 15 February, with a 1pm tee-off.
