GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - On Saturday, 2 February, the encircling storms prevented high scores in the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club's monthly medal competition sponsored by Pick n Pay.
A few players were, however, able to master the swirling wind with the winners at the end of the day being Dennis Hendricks with a 70 nett, Johndré Ludick in second place with 71 nett and Chris Koeberg in third place with 72 nett.
Eddie Nel came in fourth with 73 nett and Bernie Weyer fifth on a count out to Wally Gentry, both with 74 nett.
The last players had just entered the clubhouse when the heavens opened and a very welcome rain was celebrated.
During this competition, Hubri Bruyn was nearest to the pin on 4/13 and Godwin Bosch was nearest the pin on 6/15.
Noël Taylor-Freeme hit the longest drive.
The Wednesday IPS competition, sponsored by Gold Rush, was won by Niek Steyn (33 points). Dave Luscombe (32 points) came in second on a count out to André Olivier (32 points) who ended the competition in third place.
This coming Saturday, 9 February, a Bogey competition will be held at the local club with tee-off from 12:30.
The EP Juniors competition will be held at the club on Sunday, 10 February from 09:h00 - the course will be closed for social golf until 14:00.
