GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The prestigious Proudfoot Golf Tournament is hosted annually by the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club and this three-day event always attracts players from all over the country.
It is no different this year and many avid golfers from across South Africa will show local golfers and spectators their mettle from this Thursday, 30 March to Saturday 1 April on the club’s top-class nine-hole course.
The field has filled up nicely and the 130 players will be teeing up in a morning and afternoon field to accommodate all players. After the good rains, the course, and especially the greens, are in superb condition.
Not only will visitors be bowled over by the excellent state of the course - the friendliness of the Graaff-Reinet people and the delicious and generous meals will see them returning every year.

The Proudfoot has been an annual event since 1997. This was started to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the late Douglas Proudfoot who lived in Graaff-Reinet and, who, with no formal coaching, won the SA Amateur golf title eight times in less than a decade.
Spectators are welcome to go enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains overlooking the lush green fairways and join in the camaraderie and evening functions.
There has been a fantastic response so far and the days are full, bar a few tee-off times.
Golfers who have not yet entered, are encouraged to contact the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club. Don’t miss out on this esteemed tournament with a whopping R40 000 worth of prizes.
Those players who have already entered are to please check their tee-off times with the club for Thursday’s first day’s play. All three days will be played as an Individual Stableford competition.
