GRAAFF-REINET GOLF NEWS - There was a pleasing turn-out at the Betterball competition held on Saturday, 19 January, at the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club - possibly due to the cooler weather.
The ladies were well represented and Cheryl Waddelow, with her partner Carlos Erasmus, showed her mettle by winning the competition on 45 points.
Flippie Meyer and his son, Phillip, came in second on 43 points followed by Tim Hobson and Bernie Weyer on 42 points.
Willie Claasen and Chris Koeberg beat Wally Gentry and Dave Luscombe in the Kirber Cup competition.
The Wednesday Gold Rush IPS competition was won by Andre Olivier with 38 points, second was Weppie Weideman on a count-out to Andre du Plessis, both with 37 points.
• The prestigious Proudfoot Tournament will be held on 21, 22 and 23 March. Entries are now open.
• In last week's edition of the Graaff-Reinet Advertiser, it was incorrectly stated that Johndré Ludick will be captaining the EP Country Districts golfing team.
It is, in fact, his father Johnny who has the honour of captaining the team this year.
Johnny is also a golfer of note who currently serves the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club as club captain.
