GRAAFF-REINET GOLF NEWS - The Oppie Bol Foundation invites all avid and amateur golf players to their charity golf day fundraiser this Saturday, 22 September, at the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club.
A day filled with fun can be expected.
Oppie Bol's main motive is to empower those disabled, differently abled or vulnerable individuals by presenting an opportunity to have access to facilities and equipment, skills development, participation in sport and employment.
The foundation believes that if they can drastically change the socio-economic circumstances of the disabled, it may benefit society as a whole.
Funding or lack of funds is the greatest obstacle in the realisation of the goals of an organization like Oppie Bol. Hence this charitable golf day that will be hosted by Oppie Bol on the local greens this weekend. During the special golf day the organizers will bring together both abled bodied golfers and golfers with disabilities. Participants get the opportunity to play golf in a four-ball alliance fundraiser with the sponsors and stakeholders of Oppie Bol.
"There's no better sport than golf for bringing an inclusive society together, and with its winning combination of exercise, sporting and social interaction, golf is the perfect tonic for good health," said the chief executive officer of the Oppie Bol Foundation, Cazle Hendricks.
"This platform of social interaction will also promote disability etiquette among all participants and present the opportunity to learn first-hand that there are no limits in sport or what persons with disabilities can do," he added.
