GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — This past Saturday, August 19, turned out to be a glorious day in Graaff-Reinet - the perfect weather for golf.
The “Hit-and-Giggle” ladies thoroughly enjoyed playing on a shortened course at a Ladies Day on Saturday.
They have shown great improvement and will soon be able to play on the regular course. There were two new ladies and by the end, they too were showing promise.
The next Ladies Day will be held on Saturday, September 9 at the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club.
The Club was also pleased to note new players in the Better Ball Scramble Drive competition also held on Saturday.
The members who invited guests can be congratulated on entering in the true spirit of this competition by encouraging new members to play - something which the Golf Club desperately needs.
The winners were Norman Kroon and Brad Costa with 50 points, followed by Tim Hobson and Chris Koeberg on 49 points in second place and - on a count out also on 48 points - Johan Brink and Frikkie Coetzee in third place.
Some of the “Hit-and-Giggle” ladies: Anne Marie le Roux, Jennie Kroon, Natasha Warner, Reinet Warner and Alet Pietersen. Front: Leanne Wels.
The IPS competition sponsored by Spur and played on Wednesday, August 16, was won by Eddie Nel with 37 points.
Jean-Louis du Plessis won the Friday (August 18) Sundowner with 15 points.
• Every Tuesday at 09:00 all senior players, men 65 and older and women 55 and older, are welcome to play at a special reduced price.
