GRAAFF-REINET GOLF NEWS - At the Graaff- Reinet Golf Club better ball competition on Saturday, Rowan George and Bjoin Isaacs dove-tailed well to lead the field with a score of 47.
Dan Yeadon and Hubri Bruyns came second with 44 points on a count out to Colin Warner and Jaco Venter also with 44 points. It was good to see the younger players, André Marais and Graham Palframan back on the course.
Noel Taylor-Freeme, Patrick Ludick and Rowan George played two-clubs.
Jaco Venter won the Wednesday Gold Rush sponsored IPS Competition with 35 points, followed by Jacques Wagener with 32 points and Frikkie Coetzee with 31 points.
The Friday Sundowner Competition was won by Juan-Louis Du Plessis on a count out to Jacques Wagener both with 20 points.
Juan-Louis is to be congratulated on winning the EP Junior u.19 tournament played in Uitenhage this weekend.
On Saturday 4 May, the Pick n Pay monthly medal will be played in conjunction with the second leg of the club championships. Those wishing to take part in the Championships must enter on or before Friday, 3 May so that the draw can be done.
For all aspiring golfers, an exciting new development of a 6-hole, par 3 course has been launched. This is in line with a worldwide recognition of the need to reduce the time and cost of playing golf.
Everyone is welcome to take advantage of this to play on one of the top 9-hole golf courses in the country. There are clubs available for those who do not have their own.
