GRAAFF-REINET GOLF NEWS — Frikkie Coetzee again walked away as the winner of the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club's Friday's Sundowners competition with 19 points.
The club urges all players to participate on Fridays to try to knock Frikkie off his reigning seat.
The Wednesday competition, kindly sponsored by Gold Rush, was won by Alvin August on 39 points with Stefan Venter in second place.
The 3 Jacks & a Jill (or 3 Players and a non-regular player with 25+ handicap) Alliance competition held on Saturday resulted in great camaraderie.
The club would like to encourage their regular players to partake in this monthly competition so that they can attract new members.
The winning team was Jaco Venter, Noel Taylor-Freeme, Charl du Plessis and Yvonne Drummond on 121 points followed by Ken Eaton, Wally Gentry, Dave Luscombe and Cheryl Waddelow with 116 points.
There was a lovely warm vibe in the clubhouse afterwards as players, their families and friends enjoyed the curry and rice.
Congratulations to Johnny Ludick for being chosen to represent the EP Midlands Amateur Team. The club is very proud of their captain.
This Saturday, 7 July, a medal competition sponsored by Pick n Pay with tee-off starting at 11:30 will be held. Every Wednesday there is a Gold Rush sponsored competition and on Fridays a Sundowners competition over 9 holes.
On 28 July, the club will be holding their annual "Bokke Dag" where lots of venison can be won.
