GRAAFF-REINET GOLFING NEWS - The Annual General Meeting of the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club was held on Saturday morning, 18 August.
In his President's Report, Derek Light thanked the members, staff and committee for a very good year.
The championship trophies were then handed out.
The President's Cup was awarded to Brendon Burger, the Knott-Craig Cup to Johnny Ludick, the Briscoe Cup to Niek Steyn and the Weideman Cup to Weppie Weideman with The Thinking Golfer trophy being awarded to Colin Warner.
The winners in the Club Champions were also announced.
The A-section was won by Patrick Ludick, the B-section by Grant Rudlin, the C-section by Jacques Wagener, the Seniors-section by Charl du Plessis and the Ladies-section by Yvonne Drummond.
A new committee was elected. Bernie Weyer was elected as the club's new president and Johnny Ludick as its captain.
The rest of the committee consists of Godwin Bosch, Yvonne Drummond, Henry Galloway, Bets Henning, Anthony Visagie and Cheryl Wadelow.
Following the AGM, the day's four-ball Alliance was played in perfect weather.
Derek Light sponsored the day and wonderful prizes were won.
The winning team of Patrick Ludick, Carlo Erasmus, Anthony Visagie and Dan Yeadon scored an exceptionally good score of 152 points.
A delicious meal prepared by Moira and Derek Light was served after the game of rugby.
Frikkie Coetzee won the Gold Rush sponsored competition on Wednesday followed by Jaco Venter in second place and Andre Olivier in third.
This coming Saturday, 2 August, the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club will be hosting a Better-Ball Medal competition with tee-off commencing at 11:30.
