FOOTBALL NEWS - Sport teams that do not belong to formal sport structures can now join the newly found Graaff-Reinet Sports League.
The league hosted its first football tournament on 3 September at the Santaville open field grounds. Almost 200 participants spent the day on the field playing sport.

Co-founder and sport promoter of the Graaff-Reinet Sport League, Laughton Hoffman, says the league will focus on sport development and training in the following codes: soccer, athletics, cycling, netball, swimming, basketball and mini golf.
Weekends can become sports day entertainment and families can come and support their clubs and children.
Children received something to eat after each game provided by the NPO Singaphezulu Ngabeyisi, which received donations from Shell fuel station, Merino Pharmacy, Nommerpas and Gery's Cuisine and Cleaning Services, among others.
What do they want to accomplish?
Hoffman said that they want to develop and promote sport in all the wards and to keep children off the streets. "We don't form part of Safa and first want to grow. At the moment we concentrate on local entertainment. We basically cater for pure community entertainment and as we grow, we will engage with larger bodies. We want people to know that they can go and watch soccer on a weekend and relax at nearby playgrounds."
