GRAAFF REINET FOOTBALL NEWS - The Keegan Cosmos Club established in 1983 at Tambo Square in uMasizakhe, has made a comeback.
The club played against Dangerous Darkies last weekend, one of the oldest clubs in the area of uMasizakhe.
"The club wants to make a change in football development. We have been off the field for long and we want to make a strong comeback. As a club we did not want to challenge an obvious team to beat, we wanted to challenge a team where we can test our strength and bring players together. Yes, we are reviving the team and making a comeback," said Sandile Gqoloza, club treasurer.
The team played a tough match against Dangerous Darkies on Sunday afternoon at uMasizakhe Stadium and the game ended in a draw after Dangerous Darkies was leading the game 2 - 0.
The Darkies led in the first half when Msimelelo Harmans scored a goal in the first fifteen minutes. The second goal in the second half was scored by Siyamthanda Baartman.
At first the Darkies did not give Keegan Cosmos any opportunity to score, but Cosmos found its momentum in the last twenty minutes of the game when Vuyolwethu Jaca struck the ball into the net.
Another opportunity came just minutes before the end whistle when a strike by Aphiwe Klaasen also landed in the net.
After the game jubilant fans and supporters of Keegan Cosmos stormed the players to congratulate them with the memorable draw.
