SOCCER NEWS - Local football resumed last weekend after the festive season break. Teams prepared their players for the challenges on the football field. Those at the bottom of their league standings had to step up their game to avoid relegation.
At uMasizakhe Stadium on Saturday 13 January, a fierce battle unfolded between Masizakhe Portugal Birds and Birds United of Kroonvale, resulting in a 1-0 victory for Birds United. The stadium was once again alive with the cheers of club supporters and football fans.

ABC Motsepe Foundation League
The Camdeboo Academy Football Development Club from Graaff-Reinet is gearing up for a match in the ABC Motsepe Foundation League against one of the strongest teams in the province, Sinenkani FC of Bizana, on 20 January in Bizana.
Coach Shake Xolile Galada said that the team is ready, having started training in the first week of January. Despite facing challenges last year, the team is currently ranked 9th in the provincial standings with two points.
They've decided to focus on nurturing local talent from Graaff-Reinet and will scout players from the DBNLM local clubs.
ABC Motsepe Foundation League new management
The team has incorporated a new management team to aid in the development and support of the ABC Motsepe team. On Monday 15 January, the new management members convened with the players at Nomzamo Pre-school in Masizakhe to formally introduce themselves and discuss future plans.
The ABC Motsepe Foundation League is a semi-professional platform, facilitating the transition of players to a professional playing level.
The steering committee has committed to put in maximum effort to ensure the continual growth of football and create opportunities for the players in Graaff-Reinet to ascend to the professional ranks.
