FOOTBALL NEWS - The Black Cats Second Team went down 7(0)-6(0) on penalty shoot-outs against the Thembalethu-based side Raul Stars on Sunday afternoon, 22 October at Thembalethu Stadium in the "Buyisa Ibholalethu" Geolfa Tournament.
Raul Stars advanced to the next round of the tournament which will take place over the upcoming weekend.
The tough first half saw both teams giving their all but failing to put a score on the board. Raul Stars started out building their passes from the back line, forcing Black Cats players into defence mode against the strong attack from the wingers.
Raul Stars dominated and created several opportunities to score, but all were brilliantly saved by the young Black Cats goalkeeper, Liwonga Siko.
Discipline was improved on both sides during the second half with Black Cats showing more offensive play and both teams handling the ball with skill.
Despite this, no team had managed to score at the end of regulation time and it went into penalty shoot-outs, which Raul Stars won 7(0)-6(0).

Talented young goalkeeper
The 15-year-old Black Cats goalkeeper, Liwonga Siko, illustrated just why he had played three times for the Western Cape Provincial u.15 team. The star of the game, he prevented Raul Stars from scoring and forced the game into penalty shoot-outs.
The youngster has represented George and Eden Region in the FNB Football First Programme in Johannesburg for the past two years. His greatest wish is to become a professional football player and he dreams of representing George in the National League.
