GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Union U/13A cricket team showcased their prowess on Saturday 20 January during a T20 festival hosted by Woodridge College.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss in the opening match against St. George's Prep, Union laid the foundation for success.
Despite an early setback, the team rallied with an exceptional 161-run partnership between Dante Mills and Josh Kingwill.
Mills contributed a commendable 63 runs, and Kingwill exhibited his skills with a notable 66-run knock, propelling Union to an imposing total of 169/1.
The Union bowlers proved equally formidable in restricting St. George's to 85/6. Hubert Vorster and Aidan Ferreira shone, each claiming two wickets. Union secured a convincing victory, underlining their dominance on the field.
In the day's second encounter against Muir College, Union faced a challenging batting stint, managing 99/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Despite a spirited effort, Muir College emerged victorious with six wickets in hand. Union's resilience was evident, with Ryan Naude taking two crucial wickets.
Although Union faced a setback in the second game, their overall performance showcased grit and determination.
