CRICKET NEWS - On Saturday morning, 14 October, the Stallions Cricket Club faced United Cricket Club in a 45-over game at the Botanics Sport Club grounds in Graaff-Reinet.
Due to a wet outfield, the original 50-over game started late and was reduced to 45 overs per side.
Stallions were put in to bat and scrambled to 210 runs for nine wickets where boundaries were hard to come by on a heavy outfield. Samuel Bantom scored a worthwhile 62 runs, while Alsandru Davids kept the tail wagging with a useful knock of 37 not out to reach a respectable scoreline.
United came in to bat with the sun shining, helping to dry the outfield a little which made the run-chase slightly easier.
The Stallions' bowlers took regular wickets and their fielding restricted United to 202/8 in their 45 overs. Stewart Basson shone with the ball, taking three wickets for
25 runs in his allotted nine overs. This was a worthwhile victory for the Stallions as their first game a week earlier couldn't take place due to inclement weather. This coming Saturday, 21 October, Stallions will have an away game against Steytlerville.
