GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - This past weekend, Union High School’s U.13A cricket team ended a fun-filled cricket season with an encounter against Westering Primary from Port Elizabeth.
The weekend started with a T20 match on Friday afternoon, 2 November.
After winning the toss, Union selected to bat first against a strong bowling attack.
Their batsmen did well under pressure, but struggled to get runs on the board ending their innings on 63/7.
Unfortunately, Union’s bowlers could not restrict Westering and they chased down Union’s score with 8 wickets in hand.
On Saturday, 3 November, the teams faced each other again, this time in a 50 over match.
Westering selected to bat first and even though this was one of Union’s best bowling and fielding displays all year, Westering still managed to score 327 in their 50 allotted overs.
Union’s batsmen did their best in unfavourable conditions, but could only reach 67 all out, losing with 260 runs.
