GRAAFF-REINET SPORT NEWS - Union High School is hosting the 16th Union High annual cricket festival from 11 to 14 January.
Union looks forward to welcoming the high schools Daniël Pienaar Technical, Framesby, Stirling, Edgemead, Nico Malan, Grey, Cradock, Victoria Park, Lilyfontein, Milnerton and Westering to Graaff-Reinet for four days of competitive cricket.
T20 and 50-over encounters will be played at Union's Minnaar and Puttick fields, at the Botanics Sports Club, Asante Sana Game Reserve, Wheatlands Farm and at Hoër Volkskool, with each venue providing the perfect backdrop for cricket at the height of summer in the Karoo.
The Union High players are Joshua Horne, Brent Hesselink, Hlaki Skepe, Jude Langmead, Laythan Carelse, Jordan Wilmot, Shaakir Kazi, Joshua Basson, Camran Swartz, Peter Michaels, MS de Beer, Uyanda Tele, Yaaseen Kazi and Yonella Wana.
“The school invites all parents, Old Unionites and the Graaff-Reinet community to come and support the teams,” says Mariëtte Burger, Union’s marketer and fundraiser.
