GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Visitors to the Stoep Tasting weekend can put more joy to their tasting experience by participating in the weekly parkrun in Graaff-Reinet.
The past Saturday, 18 May, 100 people ran, jogged and walked the Mountain Drive parkrun course.
16 were first timers and 21 recorded new personal best times. Representatives of three different clubs took part. There were also visitors from Germany, Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth.
The event was made possible by nine volunteers, namely Mike Calitz, Kim Spencer Primic, Lusan Luscombe, Rozelle Köhne, Peter Burdett, Jacqueline Taylor-Freeme, Shirley Spencer, Tammy du Plessis and Johan du Plessis.

The top 10 runners were David Lamley (22:31), Bruno Schaefer (22:35), Wiekus van Straaten (25:21), Mihandri van Straaten (27:01), Graham Hobson (28:50), JJ Jansen (29:17), Hernus Stols (29:17), Innocent Swellendam (29:44), Thomas Maseko (31:51) and Malinda Piek (31:57).
The female record is held by Alicia Cawood who recorded a time of 22:50 on 9 March (event number six).
The male record is held by Ian Slinger who recorded a time of 17:01 on 6 April 2019 (event number 10).
The age grade course record is held by Sipho November who recorded a time of 17:28 on 16 March (event number 7).
Mountain Drive parkrun, Graaff-Reinet started on 2 February 2019. Since then 669 participants have completed 2 158 parkruns covering a total distance of 10 790 km, including 431 new personal bests.
A total of 47 individuals have volunteered 161 times.
