NATIONAL NEWS - In spite of efforts by paramedics to save his life, a toddler who was ran over by a car in Kameeldrift, died on Monday evening.
Spokesperson for Life Support24/7 Rufus Engelbrecht told Rekord that around 18:35, the emergency service received a call out of an injured toddler.
“When we arrived on the scene, the toddler was lying on the ground and was already pronounced deceased.”
The incident was believed to have happened around 18:30 on Monday evening.
Engelbrecht said it was alleged the toddler’s uncle failed to see him as he was driving into the property and ran him over.
“The mother and father saw the toddler lying in the driveway.”
Because the family was still traumatised by the tragedy, the exact age of the toddler could not be immediately established but Engelbrecht said it was estimated to be around 16-18-months-old.
The Kameeldrift East police and members of the Kameeldrift Trauma Support Centre responded to the scene.
