NATIONAL NEWS - Paramedics turned over two injured patients to police after realising they were involved in a hijacking incident in which they had shot one person.
According to a statement by Midlands EMS, paramedics responded to a single-car rollover on Fort Nottingham Road on Sunday morning.
They found two patients who had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Both patients were taken to a medical facility in Pietermaritzburg.
Whilst crews were treating the patients they found that neither patient had any identification and kept changing names, whilst en route to hospital a vehicle check was done and crews were informed that the vehicle had been stolen in Pietermaritzburg.
Midlands EMS said the Prestbury SAPS was notified and on arrival at the medical facility the two men were handed over to police and arrested.
The two men had hijacked the car the previous night and shot one of two occupants in the hand.
