GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A horrific accident on Friday 4 April that claimed two lives has shocked the community of Graaff-Reinet.
The accident took place at the bridge between Sunnyside and Kroonvale, at the entrance of Springbok Road.
Devastated colleagues of the municipal workers who died in the accident, together with family and friends, gathered at the accident scene Monday 7 April to pray and to lay memorials and a cross to mark the loss of their lives.
Police confirmed that they are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a head-on collision between two vehicles.
According to WO Majola Nkohli, the accident happened around 20:30 on Friday. At the scene, police found a maroon Tata Indica with three occupants.
Two of them were declared dead at the scene and the third was rushed to hospital.
The occupant (driver) in the second vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux bakkie, escaped unscathed.
He was fined for driving a motor vehicle without a driver's licence. An investigation into the accident has been launched.
