NATIONAL NEWS - James Aguma has been appointed as the acting CEO of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).
He takes over from Jimi Matthews, who resigned yesterday.
The SABC is expected to confirm the appointment at a press conference this afternoon.
Aguma has been serving as the broadcaster’s Chief Financial Officer.
SABC Board Chairperson Mbulaheni Maguvhe made the announcement appointment during a special staff meeting at Auckland Park this afternoon.
Maguvhe reportedly re-assured employees that there is no crisis at the public broadcaster despite threats of a strike by some senior journalists, who are concerned about the broadcaster’s editorial direction.
