CRADOCK NEWS - Jasmin Kretzmann from Piet-my-vrou Lane in Cradock, woke up on Sunday morning, 28 July, to find that someone had broken into their property and had left the outside gate wide open.
The family's pet miniature pony, Prince, subsequently escaped into the open field behind their house and disappeared.
After several requests on social media, the surrounding community joined the family in their search and Prince was spotted in the open field adjoining the SAPS Club House.
The Kretzmann family followed the Marlow road and saw Prince on the opposite side of the river.
"We walked about 7 km to catch him, but luckily he knows my voice. He came to me, but ran off when my brother moved towards him, but we got him eventually!" says a relieved Jasmin.
During the search people also forwarded them photographs of Prince, for which the Kretzmann family is very grateful.
