HOFMEYR NEWS - Felicia Monson contacted George Herald, sister publication of Graaff-Reinet Advertiser, after a recent visit to Waterlea near Schoombee in the Hofmeyr district, where she saw a magical sight.
"These icy fingers were an absolute treat for my Canadian born and raised kids who miss Canada's snowy winters," Monson said.
The early morning temperatures during winter in Hofmeyr, Middelburg and the surrounding areas often dip below freezing point, so for locals this is a near everyday experience and nothing strange.
Frozen water pipes are also common.
The Monsons visited Felicia's family, Robert and Jean Lord on their farm.
