GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Drought-stricken Graaff-Reinet and its surrounding communities were ecstatic to receive much-needed rain on Sunday 29 September, lasting into the early hours of Monday morning.
According to the South African Weather Service, Graaff-Reinet received 6,2mm of rain. Local resident Greg Kappers, however, recorded 13mm in Graaff-Reinet, while Johan Bouwer said Sunnyside received 11mm.
Community members in Aberdeen reported 10 to 15mm of rain. Nieu Bethesda resident André Cilliers said the town received rain on Sunday, but could not confirm how much.
According to the Weather Network, 5mm rain is expected in the Graaff-Reinet area on Tuesday 8 October.
