KAROO NEWS - Thembalesizwe Primary School held its Grade 7 farewell tour in the Garden Route over the past weekend.
Learners left on Friday morning and explored the wonders of the Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn on the way. From there, they visited Redberry strawberry farm in George.
On Saturday morning, they had an exciting day in the company of Rob and Elfie Holden of the Skipper Foundation in Mossel Bay.
The visit was a fantastic opportunity for these young learners to explore and learn about various aspects of life and skills that can help shape their futures.
The students enjoyed a special dinner evening at the Santos Express train on Saturday.
Deputy principal Honjiswa Vuthula expressed the school's commitment to spending time with Grade 7 learners. "This event provides them with exposure to the outside world and new experiences, preparing them for the Further Education Training (FET) phase and exploring various career options," Vuthula said.
The school's Cultural Committee stressed the importance of parental involvement in planning and decision-making for such events, taking into account affordability.
Parents welcomed their kids back on Sunday afternoon with singing, dancing and prayers, expressing gratitude for their safe journey.
