MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The first day of the 700km Six Gun Grill Trans Agulhas Challenge (TAC) ended in Mossel Bay today, 28 December, with Eben de Bod and Dévan De Villers Marais nabbing the leading spot.
De Bod claimed the Trans Agulhas 2024 crown, with Henco Nel as co-pilot.
Competitors started the first day of the race in Hobie Beach in Plettenberg Bay, travelling 188.5km to reach their ending point in Mossel Bay.
The Official Trans Agulhas Facebook page posted the win, stating the two had come in on boat M221 and claimed both the Long Haul – Modified Class and overall Day 1 of the race.
"Challenging terrain and unpredictable conditions made this a true test of preparation and teamwork, a standout performance," stated the post by Trans Agulhas.
Day 2 of the TAC will start in Mossel Bay tomorrow morning, 29 December. They will race to Vleesbaai then Gouritz River Mouth and will end Day 2 in Stillbaai.
Competitors are expected to reach the checkpoints at the following times:
• Vleesbaai - 08:30
• Gouritz River Mouth - 08:45
• Stilbaai - 09:26
Day 3 will see the participants travel from Stillbaai to Struisbaai, a total of 161km. The final stage, day 4 will see competitors race 223km to the Strand Beach, the finish line.
