GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Man dies in shack fire - The Graaff-Reinet Police will be investigating an inquest docket after the charred body of 74-year-old John Sauls of Du Plessis Street in Kroonvale, Graaff Reinet, was recovered from his shack after it had been destroyed by fire on Monday 24 May at about 12:50. 

The body of the deceased was taken to the Graaff-Reinet mortuary.

SOMERSET EAST NEWS - Somerset East police investigate a murder - Police are investigating the murder of 54-year-old Piet Oliphant after they had responded to an anonymous caller who directed them to a scene of the stabbing at a residence in Jonas Street on Friday 21 May at about 22.00.

After EMS Somerset-East stabilised and transported the victim to the Andries Vosloo Hospital for medical attention, the 54-year-old victim succumbed to a chest stab wound.

A murder case was opened and will be investigated by Somerset-East detectives.

A 35-year-old suspect was arrested on Saturday 22 May at 02:35 and is due to appear before the Somerset-East Regional Court soon.
