LATEST UPDATE: GRAAFF-REINET SAPS CONTINGENCY MEASURES IN PLACE AFTER CLOSURE
GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Graaff-Reinet SAPS discontinued all operational services at the police station after a senior police officer tested positive for Covid-19.
The Advertiser is awaiting a statement from brigadier Vushni Naidoo, national police spokesperson, but police members who were denied entry to the main building this morning, confirmed that the lieutenant colonel tested positive and that the station has been closed.
Further information to the Advertiser is that most police members are under self-isolation, with minimal staff on duty.
The police services will continue with skeleton staff from a hall behind the main SAPS building on Middel Street.
The Eastern Cape Spokesperson for the Department of Health, Siyanda Manana, could not be reached for comment this morning.
