GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Once again, an extremely successful 'Pink Tea' in aid of cancer awareness was hosted in Graaff-Reinet.
This event is held every October by a group of ladies calling themselves the Spandau Pink Tea Team, to raise awareness of cancer and to support those affected by the condition.
The tea, which was held at the Botanics Sports Club on Wednesday afternoon, 24 October, allowed local cancer survivors and sufferers to enjoy tea and refreshments with the community of Graaff-Reinet and some from surrounding towns.
The guest speaker at this year's event was the highly reputable motivational speaker and owner of Brown's PR company, Michelle Brown.
She delivered an awe-inspiring talk on the 'Image of Women', urging women to protect their image and reputation. "Women should be meticulous regarding their appearance in public and at their workplaces," said Brown.
She also stressed the fact that women should be efficient administrators and team workers without sacrificing their individuality.
Throughout her address, Brown created a vibrant energy and atmosphere in the hall and everybody spontaneously joined in the dancing, as requested by her, at the end of the function.
Brown also brought several valuable lucky draw gifts along - Fawzie Mohammed won an accommodation prize inclusive of breakfast at the Boardwalk Hotel in Port Elizabeth.
Not a single lady left the event empty-handed as 200 beautiful pot plants were generously donated by Blue Magnolia Nursery to the delight of each attendee.
The ladies who attended were also entertained by Archie Pienaar who rendered music throughout the event. The audience was also thrilled by the musical items rendered by the immaculate group, 'Ebony & Ivory and In-between'.
The organisers would like to thank the following businesses in Port Elizabeth who contributed to the success of the event: The Boardwalk Hotel and Convention Centre, Windemere Hotel, Town Lodge, City Lodge, Courtyard Hotel and Cadbury.
A word of thanks is also extended to all the guests for their donations made, the donors, sponsors and the local businesses for their generous contributions made towards the function.
All the money raised by way of this event is in aid of the Graaff-Reinet Cancer Association.
