GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — The Graaff Reinet Business community was treated to a first off presentation by the recently rebranded Karoo Catch with their new eye-catching logo.
The aquaculture venture could tap into the government's Operation Phakisa initiative, initiated in 2014.
Karoo Catch sees their role as that of providing food security in the face of a growing population and dwindling supplies of local sea fish stocks.
A concomitant vision to empower the local community and to be sustainable was also made clear. The company is currently in the incubator phase and is working towards a grow-out facility of 9 tunnels.
Future opportunities will be available for entrepreneurs in the form of additional nodes of production.
With a punctual start, groups of people were guided around the grow-out facility by confident trained up employees.
A presentation by general manager Ken Light was followed by a specially prepared selection of tasty meals by Polka restaurant using Karoo Catch products.
One was certainly left with the impression of a slick home-grown operation.
