KAROO NEWS - Over the past weekend the Karoo Wine Club sparkled yet again, hosting its third annual Karoo Classique Bubbles & Big Bottels Festival that showcases some of South Africa's premier sparkling wine producers.
The Coldstream Restaurant and the Drostdy Hotel played host to the intimate event and delivered with great atmosphere and facilities.
"Bubbles & Big Bottles" is apt, and guests were spoiled for choice with products from Deetlefts Wine Estate, La Motte, Babylonstoren, Boschendal and other premier estates spread across the two venues. Even though spring did not deliver on the weather front, festivalgoers were not deterred and strolled the beautiful streets of Graaff-Reinet enjoying an amazing event filled with an abundance of cheer, hospitality and, of course, copious amounts of bubbly.
This event is another brainchild of Stoeptasting Masterminds Gordon and Rose Wright, who continue to create amazing growth platforms for hospitality and local economy.
This event proves to be a good fit for bubbly-lovers. "Ticket holders commented that they liked having lots of producers at one venue, where they could take their time, sit and chat and get something to eat in between their tasting," noted Rose. "It is for this reason we would love to grow this event, but in a different way than Stoeptasting."
The excited duo said it was interesting to see which wines were selling. "People were definitely interested in something different; they want to buy wines they won't find in the shops.
The big bottles were an absolute hit as they were all sold first. It is great to see magnums being popular again too!"
It is safe to say that even this brainchild has the ability and room to grow up to be an unmissable, ever intimate affair.
