GRAAFF-REINET | ABERDEEN NEWS — Neither Midland Hospital in Graaff-Reinet nor Aberdeen Hospital recorded any births on Christmas Day, but both had new babies to welcome 2017 on January 1.
At Midland Hospital, two boys and a girl made their first appearance, one early in the morning and two in the afternoon.
In Aberdeen, Sandra Sondag arrived at the hospital just after 5am on January 1, and at 6.20am she was delivered of a healthy baby boy, weighing in at 2.44kg. Assisting in the delivery, which occurred whilst the night shift were on duty, was the experienced Sr Gogo. The as yet unnamed little boy has a 2-year-old sister.
Sisters de Beer and Mapongwana, who were on duty later in the morning, were happy to pose with the new mother and her baby, after presenting her with a gift.
